Gabon’s President Ali Bongo to deliver a New Year Message from Rabat

Ailing Gabonese president Ali Bongo Ondimba on Wednesday revealed that he would be granting an end of year or a New Year message to the Gabonese people from Morocco’s capital city Rabat, where he is receiving medical attention.

The latest announcement comes from a close associate of the president who spoke on condition of anonymity, reports hold.

It will represent President Bongo’s first public address since he took ill in October. He was hospitalized in a Saudi hospital after the attack that led to a stroke.

The planned New Year speech will quell the tension that has been in the country and give certainty about the presidency health condition.

As it stance, if authorities determine that the 59 year old Ali Bongo is no longer physically and  psychologically viable to lead deliver as president , then the Senate president Lucie Milebou Mboussou  would act as a temporal leader that will lead the nations to presidential elections to be announced within a maximum period of 60 days. In Rabat since November 29, Bongo is positively responding to treatment.
